Abstract:
Control theory meets the theory of Homogenization (organised by Harsha Hutridurga and Debanjana Mitra)
A discussion meeting on “Control theory meets the theory of homogenization” was held at Ramanujan hall, Department of Mathematics, IIT Bombay, during 28th February - 04th March, 2023. Control theory is a branch of mathematics dealing with the use of inputs or an observation to influence a system in order to achieve a desired goal. The theory of homogenization concerns the study of solutions to differential equations with rapidly oscillating coefficients. The problem of understanding the interplay between the control and homogenization of a system becomes more challenging and exciting.
we invited experts and PhD students from within India who work in the field of control theory and in the field of homogenization. Among the differential equations community in India, we have research groups specialising in control theory and research groups specialising in the theory homogenization. This discussion meeting was an attempt to bring these research groups together in one single platform. Finally, we would like to mention here that the topics of these activities were of wider interest across departments in the institute.
