Title
ESED: Global Tools and techniques to manage local solid waste problems: Social, Cultural, and Economic Impediments

Abstract:

Successful solid waste management in developing countries requires tools and techniques from technical, institutional, social, cultural, and economic disciplines. While solid waste management is a global problem, the solutions must be applied locally to address the complexity entailed in social and economic structures. The presenter will use his extensive first-hand experiences, observations, and research of solid waste management efforts in Madagascar, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, and the United States to provide insights into how solid waste can be dealt with in challenging circumstances.
